Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. – Romans 12:9
Love is not to be worn as a mask. It is not an attitude we feign around our families or friends or in front of a camera.
Love should define us.
All parents have noticed that our children mimic our actions and emulate us as closely as they can. Setting aside the expected maturity level of our children, do we like how they behave? How they treat their little friends, authority figures or even animals? I am grateful to God who has blessed me with a benevolent disposition and a husband who is kind and patient. Not just for the qualities in of themselves but also because I see my daughter exhibiting this behavior. She is such a happy person!
We are directed to cast our anxieties onto God (1 Peter 5:7) and when we do this, we are free to love without hypocrisy. I’ll consider myself a successful parent when my daughter grows into woman with these commands held close to her heart.
Bless those that persecute you; bless and do not curse. – Romans 12:14
